I was about two years old in this picture with my grandpa.  All seven of us kids would get so excited when Grandpa Pete came to visit.

Pete Vento was so much fun to be around.  My mother, Velma, was so much like her father in that respect.  She loved to sing and dance too, just like Pete.

There was always a song in our home.  And our family's love put a song in our hearts.

I was looking up Vento's Dept Store and came upon this website. I wanted to check Google maps to see if the building was still there. Hi Mary, My name is Kathleen Snyder McDonough. Peter Vento was also my "grandfather" and Thelma Vento was my paternal grandmother. At a quick glance, I saw one picture of aunt Gert taken at my house in Newburgh; every summer we had a pool party at our house for my brother's birthday. Your web page is beautiful and informative and brings back memories. Is there anyway to see larger versions of the photos? You also forgot to mention that Pete was an avid bowler, and Elks club president=)
