Donald "Don" Virgil Vento
Jul. 18, 1922 - Jul. 17, 2010Don Vento of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin passed away at age 87 on July 17, 2010, at St. Joseph's Home in Kenosha. He was born on July 18, 1922, in Newburgh, New York, the son of Peter and Jennie Vento. Mr. Vento was the owner of the Cogitator Bookstore for more than 50 years in the Chicagoland area. He was a member of The Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America and The American Booksellers Association, and he also served on the boards of these organizations. |

Donald Vento served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1940 to 1946. He later headed security departments for Chicago's famed Riverview amusement park on Western Avenue at Belmont.
Don is survived by a son, Kam Allen Vento (spouse, Dianna Henning) of Janesville, California; a daughter, Darcy Hall of Sanford, Florida.; a stepson, George P. Drake, of Newport, California; several grandchildren; a niece, Evon (Del) Rogers of Libertyville, Illinois; a nephew, W.C. (Mary) Shaffer of Springfield, Illinois; and a cousin, Vivian Fulk of Scottsdale, Arizona.
Don was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Medinah Shrine in Libertyville. He loved books, good food and all his many friends.
A private family memorial was held at the family farm in Springfield, Illinois.

Cremated, Ashes scattered.
