He arrived in the U.S. on 3/26/1900 at the age of 15 from the port of Genoa. Ellis Island records show the ship name was Tartar Prince and his listed occupation was Country Man.
He married Francesca Levatino in New Jersey in the year 1903 and then settled in Poughkeepsie, NY. James and Francesca had three children.
Vingenzo "James" Guiseppe died on Oct. 01, 1908 at age 23 in an accident while working for the railroad in Brooklyn, NY. He and another train worker were killed instantly. He lived at 20 Duane Street in Poughkeepsie, NY at the time of his death. Francesca was pregnant with Jeanette at the time of his death.
Peter S. Vento was born November 14, 1905 and died March 12, 1988. He is buried in Newburgh, NY.

Francesca "Nana" Levatino-Vento-Mirto Born in Aug 1885 in Palermo, Italy
Daughter of Rosario Levatino (Rosario born Aug 1839) and Rosa Pipitone (although Ellis Island records show Pefutone) (Rosa born Nov 1848) both from Misilmeri, Sicily.
Francesca Levatino arrived in the US in 1896/1897 with her parents, Rosario and Rosa, along with her sister, Catterina. (Catterina's birth June 1880).
The Levatino family settled in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Francesca married Jussippi Vento in the early 1900's. They had three children, Peter, Josephine and Jeanette .
After Jussippi's accidental death, Francesca and her three children, lived briefly with her mother, Rosa Levatino. The 1910 census records show Francesca living with her mother, Rosa, and three children, Peter "Petey", Josephine and Jeanette.
Then in 1914/1915 Francesca married Carlos Mirto (also from Misilmeri) and had four more children with him: Samuel, Salvatore "Tato", Gertrude and Ermida "Babe".
Francesca died in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1971/1972.
"Pop, Carlo "Charles" Mirto, married Francesca and her children were his children. They and the three kids started their marriage on Gifford Avenue, moved to Mansion Street and then bought a home on Worrall Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
They had four more children together.
